72 Rules of the Order.
The 72 Rules of the Order were the original guiding principles of the medieval Order of the Temple, whose sway guided the very existence and daily lives of its members, setting out how they were expected to live, worship, behave, and serve. They focused on discipline, obedience, modesty, courage, prayer, loyalty, and putting duty above personal comfort. Although written for a religious military order in the 12th century, a modern interpretation sees them less as strict monastic rules and more as values for everyday life, such as living with integrity, showing self discipline, serving others, acting with humility, and staying committed to a clear sense of purpose. We are now publishing a new book featuring contributions from modern Knights of the Temple, each sharing what these 72 Rules mean to them personally today. This unique collection will bring together individual reflections on how these historic principles continue to inspire modern lives, and we invite contributions from those who would like to take part. The deadline for submissions is 1 April 2026, and the first 72 people to buy the book will have their name printed in the book as part of this special commemorative edition.
